VILLA WITH POOL IN TUSCANY

Villa Mannori is a farmhouse bought by Riccardo Mannori (pharmacist) in 1986.
Built in 1934, Villa Mannori was part of a farm building complex and was inhabited by two farmer families who raised cattle and worked the land. The house was uninhabited for years and the idea was the one to restructure the Villa in order to present it to the hotel business.

Restructuring

In the same place occupied by the stables, that occupied most of the ground floor, was built the hall, kitchen and balcony. The resctructuring works have been performed in compliance with the original appearance. On the ground floor has been laid the brick-floor, in the bedrooms you will find parquet and the internal stairway is made of the originary stone. The manger also made of stone, unfortunately, was destroyed. When Riccardo went to supervise the works, he found the laborer who was demolishing the manger with a jackhammer. When he protested, the laborer replied: "Doctor, why do you want to keep it? It is very old".
But it already was too late. Apart from that, everything else has remained as it originally was. The size of the rooms, the height of the ceilings with beams of wood and even the plaster have been made respecting the irregularity of the walls. The big room upstairs with the chimney is worth a particular high-light. This room was the heart of the house. It was right here that all the main family activities were held: we cooked, ate, we all gathered around the fire to keep warm on cold winter evenings. From the fireplace, often hung a huge copper pot filled with polenta or beans. And it was right here where was used to open a bottle of Vin Santo to celebrate births or weddings.

On the ground floor there is always the old wood stove. Originally born outside was subsequently incorporated into the walls. It is a stove where the bread for the whole week was made, usually on Sundays. The bathrooms, however, are all made brand new on the backside of the building. The roof has been completely rebuilt. The facade of brick and stone was unearthed by a careful sanding job.The painting of walls, has been made with pastel colours. The furniture of the Villa has been made by pieces of family and by Tuscan furniture restored by a good carpenter from Vitolini. While the works went on inside, outside Riccardo was cleaning the surrounding area, removing dead plants and planting new trees. Most of the oaks you see were born from a small acorn planted about twenty years ago. Everything seemed to be ready, Riccardo was excited to inaugurate his new business, but…


Unexpected
It happened that Riccardo met a young girl whom he madly fell in love with and, those rooms that were intended for you, were inhabited by two young girls who grew up here free and happy. They knew the season alternation, the splendor of spring beginning with the blooming of the cherry-tree in front of the house, watching the buzzards circling over their heads. They first tasted the pizzas cooked in the wood oven and spent Christmas in front of the fireplace.


Present
Claudia and Francesca now are attending the university, we are transferred to Empoli and Villa Mannori is ready for the original project. Further works have been performed, the number of rooms has been enlarged, we built the pool and the two iron gazebo for your outdoor dinner. Since 2005, we host visitors from all around the world and this year Villa Mannori has made its website because we believe that only the direct contact with us can guarantee you the vacation of dreamt of. Come and visit us also during the low season, because it is right in Spring and in Autumn that Tuscan landscape is really wonderful with all its colours, its fragrances, its culture.

In less than an hour's drive you will be in the center of Florence, Pisa or Siena and in few hours in Rome, Naples and Venice. The sea, beach / rock, it's only one hour drive and is an amusing diversion.
